Dolly-Parton

born on January. 19th of 1946, in Locust Ridge Tenn into a low-income family that would ultimately comprise 12 kids Dolly Parton learned early to get away from the struggles of life by using her vivid and far-ranging imagination. Before she learned to write and read Dolly Parton was composing her own songs. She got her first guitar when she was just 8 years old and started singing at an Knoxville Tenn radio station at the age of 11. In the same year, she recorded her first recording on Gold Band Records a tiny independent label. She made a name for herself locally while still at high school, but always dreamed of having a bigger stage. When she was graduating in 1964 she moved to Nashville. The first charting record she had on Monument Records included Dumb Blonde and Something Fishy both in 1967. Around this time, Porter Wagoner was looking for the next girl to perform on the show he had syndicated to television. Parton was a part of the Grand Ole Opry 1969 after having signed to RCA Records. Parton quit the Wagoner's band in 1974 after her own songs like Joshua Coat of Many Colors and Jolene oversold her collaborations. Following their breakup, Parton wrote the song I Will Always Love You for Wagoner and it reached No. 1 for the first time since 1974.
