The parents of her are Harvey Welker who is Native American and Julie Welker who is African-American. Her mother works as a real-estate agent, while her father has a degree in engineering. Walker received her schooling in the Germantown Friends School located in Philadelphia's Germantown area where she graduated in 1994. When she graduated of Harvard College in 1998, she went to Harvard College and earned her bachelor of Arts. Welker is since the age of 20 to John Hughes who is a prominent marketing director for Merck Philadelphia. The couple have two children. In 2014 the couple began to have an affair.
